I wanted to make a fun bible snack for my kids, and these came out cuter than I expected they would! They are super fun to make, and fun to eat, and your kids are going to love them. Let’s check out this cute bible snack idea and I will tell you just how to make your own!
How to Make Little Edible Bibles:
Start with a fig newton, and trim off one long side with a sharp knife. This makes it look like your “book” has the edges of paper showing on 3 sides, and binding on the fourth side. I also then shortened them a little because this made them too narrow. My kids graciously took care of the scraps for me 😉
The “bookmarks” are made from red fruit roll-ups. Cut them into the shape of a bookmark with a sharp knife, then stick them into the ‘fig goo’ with a toothpick. The pieces of fruit roll-up I used were about as long as my thumbnail.
It was very easy to stick these bookmarks in, but a little challenging to cut out the fruit roll-ups.

Finish the bible by decorating the cover and binding it with icing.
I love crafting with my food so much more than cooking (which isn’t my strong point) so easy little snacks like this that I don’t have to bake are just perfect for me! Wouldn’t this be such a cute snack for vacation bible school? Or bible study? Or 10,000 other occasions, like our upcoming “B” week? In case you can’t tell, I really like these 🙂

Those are just soooooooooooooo cute! Thank you for sharing them. 🙂
Thank you Lacy! The cookies turned out too cute! I love how you added the bookmark Very creative!
Wow, you are my idol! I am not crafty AT ALL (the very thought stresses me out), but to see that God gave you the gift of craftiness and strong faith? I love it!!! 🙂
Thanks for the great idea. My baby is being baptized this weekend and I’m making these for the gathering. So cute!
WOW! these are fantastic! Will make these for my daughters Communion next year. Thank you for sharing!
We had these at our VBS a couple weeks ago. They were cute, but a lot of our kiddos didn’t like the Fig Newtons! They also made St Peter’s sandals out of Vienna wafers, frosting, and pull-apart licorice and St Peter’s throne made out of pop tarts and tootsie rolls.
So weird! My kids love fig newtons. Of course, it only takes 1 kids proclaiming they don’t like them, and everyone else just falls in line.
What a great idea for confirmation, baptism or just for plan ole’ fun. Love your web site and all the fun ideas you offer.
Holy cow! Those are the cutest cookie idea ever!! I love the simplicity of them. I will definitely make those for my religious education classes this year and I think I will change them up a bit and make them for a class snack at my girl’s elementary school. Awesome!
Love This Idea!!!! good idea for a Church Home-Coming! Could you tell me what kind of icing you used. Thanks for sharing!!! 🙂
I just used regular canned icing that I put into a baggie myself.
Thanks so much for sharing. The kids really loved them!
cool article! I am so looking forward to seeing more.
