Lenten Idea for Kids- Make an Offering Box

The 3 biggies during lent are prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. This makes lent the perfect time to make a giving bank of some kind with your kids.

If you’d like to craft an offering box like the one above, go to your local craft store and look in the section with all the little unfinished wooden things. You can get a little wooden or paper box to make your offering box. (You can get them for about $1 each). Just cut a slit in the top for money, and then let your child decorate it. They could decorate with paint, glitter glue, and stickers, or you could even decoupage on some tissue paper. Whatever you want! The kids in mypreschool co-op made these, and it’s an adorable Lenten craft.
Alternately, you could make these church banks we crafted
from milk cartons. My daughter loves taking hers
to mass to empty into the collection basket!
Also, I just love this giving bank from Ben and Me
with this Mother Teresa quote on it! Such a great idea!

This is part one of a really cool almsgiving craft I’m going to be posting soon. I’m really excited about our offering boxes this year, and can’t wait to show you the other half of this idea. ;-)

I love this idea! It is a great way to bring the season of Lent into the home. I also think it would be great to add little kindness offerings in the box as well as money. Thank you for sharing this awesome craft.
