New Mass Responses Booklet for Kids – Free to Print!

As I’m sure you all know, beginning on the first Sunday of Advent (2011) we will all begin using the third edition of the Roman Missal, so Mass responses are going to change a little. Most of us are going to need to read along for awhile- let’s face it- old habits die hard and many of us have been saying to same responses every Sunday for our entire lives. It’s time to re-program our brains.

There are several printable resources of the new mass, but I couldn’t find one that was just for kids… so I made one. :-)

This is not a complete child’s new mass missal- it just has the parts of the mass that have changed, and it’s based on cycle B since that’s the year we’re moving into. You’re all welcome to print it for free!

This free, printable, new version of the mass for kids is available as a pdf. The pdf is 6 pages long, but the booklet is meant to be printed on 2 sides of the paper, so it’s actually printed on just 3 sheets of paper. Here’s how you print it:

Print page 1, then print page 2 on the back.
Print page 3, then print page 4 on the back.
Print page 5, then print page 6 on the back.

Once you have all 3 papers printed front and back, fold them in half. The individual half-pages have page numbers on them, so that will help you put them together in order. Crease the folds nicely, and staple together. That’s it!

I really enjoyed putting this together, and I hope you find it useful! I know my children and I will enjoy using these instead of those pew cards. They’re just a little more fun and child friendly.
Don’t forget to pass this post onto your friends,CCD teachers, and Catholic email lists! Thanks!

Thank you Lacy! This is much simpler than the one I purchased to share with the kids. And honestly, I love it for myself. Lately my brain is more on a kid level than an adult one so I will be using these. ;)

  2. Jamie Jo says:

Lacy, this is great!! Our Church does have great cards in every pew to follow along but the kiddos would love these too!

    You are the greatest!

Love your Advent list too, I noticed yesterday that Oriental Trading had some pretty nice stuff for cheap–and especially looked at those bracelets!

I’m having a giveaway at my blog for an Advent book, it’s actually only around $10 to order too.

Thank you Lacey! This is awesome! We have a first grader who we are really trying to work with on participating more in Mass since next year will be her first Holy Communion. The revisions are going to throw her for a loop and it will be great to have something that is hers that she can use to follow along! Thanks again! I love your site!

    Hi Lacy,
I really love this! I teach kindergarten at at Catholic School in Maryland and I am going to suggest to my principal that we print your booklet for our kids. I think it will be so helpful. My daughter Meagan teaches a first/second grade class in California, she and I both have used so many of your wonderful ideas in our classrooms. Thank you so much for all of the time and care you put into your blog..

    • Lacy says:

What a great idea! So glad to hear you’re finding the site useful. It must be a lot of fun to share the same profession with your daughter! :-)

  21. Diane says:

Thank you! May I use with my Grade 3 Sunday School students? This is fantastic. Thanks again!

  22. Kimberly says:

I love this, though I printed it with the automatic duplexer and every other was upside down. Something to think about in the future. Thank you!

    • Kimberly says:

Ok, for those that want a quick way to print:

I printed pages 1,3,5 and unchecked “Reverse pages” (You could also put the page range in as 5, 3, 1 for most printers.)

Then, I put them right back in printed side up, unchecked “Reverse pages” and put the page range in as 2,4, 6.

      Stack them as 6 & 7, then 4 & 9, then 2 & 11 facing up. Fold and staple (optional).

Am giving to my two younger kids! Thanks!

  23. Julie says:

Thank you for this, I will use it with my Pre-K kids, sunday school children and for my own daughters who are 16 and 13(Yes they love these kinds of things even at their ages!!)

I’ll also share it with our Grade school principal and teachers.

    God’s blessings always
    Julie

  24. Debby Fernandez says:

Wonderfully done once again. I will be sharing with all our parish ministries that involve children. Excellent work as always and by the way the Preschool curriculum book is a huge hit in our parish….when is the next older kids version coming into publication is the question I am asked a great deal…something to pray over–that is for sure.

    • Lacy says:

So glad the book is working out! I would like to write a book about celebrating the liturgical year, but I doubt if I’ll write another curriculum. Never say never, I guess!

  25. This is wonderful, thank you so much! I tried to find one at the Catholic bookstores around here and they only have adult ones. LOVE!

  26. Katherine says:

This is great! Thank you for all of your work & allowing the download for free!!

  27. Changing Diapers as a Hobby says:

This was literally a lifesaver. My mentally disabled sister tore it up she liked it so much lol. I am trying to teach her about God and she learns in unconventional ways haha so I was so disappointed when the pew only provides the Mass in teeny tiny font so even I couldn’t see it with my glasses on and I don’t even wear glasses! So I printed this out, and I printed it out for my mom’s class and I printed it out for each of my neighbors who promptly got HOA to kick me out of the neighborhood but that’s fine because the bottom line is that I am spreading the word of God thanks to Catholic Cake. Thanks, Cake! You really were a help in time of need!

  28. Sarah K. says:

I printed these off & used them today as a craft & for our CCD Mass. I have 4th & 5th graders. I simply used a hole punch up the folded side & the kids wove curling ribbon up the side to ‘bind’ it. Even our priest liked them :) Thank you!

  29. Lupe Hernandez says:

Thank you so much!! It might be for kids, but I intend on using them for me and my husband (we’re in our 70′s)!!

  30. Candy says:

I’m the DRE at the Newman Center in Sacramento, CA. Just wanted you to know that we used
your printable Navitiy in our Religious Ed program this past Sunday. I’ve had the entire community saving paper tubes for weeks. The Natvitiy was a big hit with kids and parents
Thanks so much for sharing it.

  31. Elizabeth Loftus says:

Thank you so much for this information to print for my god-daughter…

  32. Jenn says:

    Awesome resource- I love it!
I saw someone with a picture missal for a really young kid. Does anyone know where I can get one? It looked like a free printable.
It led the kid through the Mass with pictures and maybe one word above them.

    • Lacy says:

As far as I know, there aren’t any picture missals for kids yet available with the new translation of the mass.

  33. Holly Murphy says:

omgoodness…I have wanted to do this since december for my 11 children but had an MS exacerbation and travel from TX to PA…you get the picture. I now have it to print out. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!! I book marked your blog…love it!!

  34. Essie says:

thank you very much for putting this together! I will share it with the children in my Sunday class.

  35. Ariadne says:

LOVE this! I’ve been looking for something for my teenagers! (they’re so hard to do crafts with since they think they’re “too cool…”)
