Here are some ideas to help you celebrate the Liturgical year in January with your family. Hope you find the links usefu!
For starters, remember that the Christmas season goes well into January. Check out my post on how long Christmas really lasts for Catholics. (This post has been updated a little bit, so click over even if you’ve already read it).
The month of January is devoted to the Most Holy Name of Jesus. I love this J.E.S.U.S. craft we made a few years back- we still have them around my house. Also, here’s a name of Jesus song and more craft ideas to celebrate this day.

Choose a Patron Saint of your Family for the New Year! I highly recommend this tradition. We love it!
St. Basil’s New Year’s Cake Recipe- so fun! Great tradition!
Home Blessing - bless your front door with chalk. This is a classic.

January is also a great month for religious snowflake crafts. We like to combine snowflake crafts with The Little Snowflake book. So cute!
While you’re celebrating the Epiphany, your kids might enjoy this claymation special of “We Three Kings”. I absolutely loved this claymation Christmas special when I was a little girl! They also have a beautiful rendition of “Joy to the World” and several sillier songs mixed in.
One more thing- remember to pray about setting your New Year’s resolutions! See you next year.

God bless you for all you continue to share!
a wonderful list of resources. as always. thanks Lacy!
Hi Lacy! I just wanted to let you know I heard your blog mentioned on the “catholic family” podcast and saw your book in The Catholic Company Catalog and thought that was so cool! Keep up the good work!
So exciting! Thanks for letting me know.
I am going to try to start listening to more podcasts this year.
Thanks for these ideas! I wanted to do something special for the Feast of the Holy Name of Jesus, but I didn’t have supplies on hand and it was sort of last minute. Instead, I copied that Jesus optical illusion into photoshop and made it into a coloring page:

The kids colored the spaces with the gray dots and left the rest blank; when they were done, they tried to find the name of Jesus. My oldest could do it but the rest needed help, and all of them loved this quick last-minute craft.
What a cool idea! Thanks for sharing!
Just want to say THANK YOU for all your ideas!!! We’re trying out a few as we (re)learn our faith.
I love looking at all of the wonderful ideas you share. I look forward to watching the claymation video. Another video I love for the Epiphany is The Very First Noel.
