Catholic ABC’s Week: 7
Letter of the week: B
Theme: Bible
Saint of the Week: St. Bernadette
Craft: Bible Bookmarks
I created a printable books of the Bible bookmark that includes all the books of the Bible- of which there are 73. This is free to print, and your kids can color and decorate however they wish. 🙂
I have the book of the Bible listed chronologically, and sorted by old and new testaments. You can color and decorate the front of the bookmark however you want.
My kids all chose to follow my directions on how to draw a Bible, which is included in the download with the bookmark.
We colored ours with colored pencils.
The page prints with the front and back of the bookmark beside each other. You just cut around the outside line, fold down the middle, and glue stick the 2 sides together. This makes for easier printing, and also a stronger bookmark. Once ours were cut out and folded in half, we laminated them. I love our laminator!
Then we punched holes at the top, and put a ribbon on them. Here’s how you can easily tie a ribbon to the top of a bookmark. Thread both pieces of the ribbon through the same side of the hole and pull half way through.
Take both ends, and lace them through the loop created.
Pull tight. Viola!

Here are the kids’ completed bookmarks.
The ribbon is a very nice addition, especially when actually using the bookmark in your Bible.
This is my Bible, not the kid’s Bible. I also have the Catholic tab divider things, and I love having them! I can finally go to a Bible study without feeling like a complete idiot- lol. So easy to find everything. You can add them to any Bible. It takes awhile to put them in, but it’s well worth the effort.
The kids were very happy with their completed bookmarks, but then, they pretty much love everything they make that I put through the laminator. Somehow, that just makes it feel so “official”.
You can find even more bible resources for kids here including free printables, scripture memory resources, the best children’s bibles, and more!

Thanks! You are always my top referrer (after like, google and facebook and pinterest) 🙂
I appreciate your blog tremendously!
I was wondering if (and, if so, how) you’re going to teach your kids to memorize the books of the bible?
I am planning on teaching them soon. We’ll probably do it with a song from youtube. Now that they’re really looking stuff up in the Bible, they need to know all the books.
Thank you for this, Lacy! I’m printing it for my daughter right now. So many of the free Books of the Bible printables out there are Protestant and not the correct list. You have truly done a great service to Catholic kids everywhere! 🙂 I found a great video a couple of years ago that is a catchy song that would go perfectly with your bookmark. God bless you!

I can’t get this Books of the Bible bookmark to download – it says it is forbidden. ?? Any thoughts? Is it still available?
Thank you!
Courtney
Yes, it’s still available. I just fixed it. Sorry- I don’t know why it went down. 🙂
Thank you! My computer was acting up too, so with your help and the help of my husband, we’ve got it! 🙂
I am searching for it also.
Charlotte – You’ll find a text link that says “Get the download here” farther down in the post, just under a picture of three of Lacy’s kids holding their bookmarks. Just click on that to get the bookmarks.
Thank you so much for this! I am wondering if you would consider updating this? 1 Maccabees and 2 Maccabees are not in the correct order.
Blessings!
Hold the phone! I just discovered the most interesting thing. Your bookmarks match the NAB but not the RSV-2CE. Sheesh. I am sorry for my error but it was made in good faith! (I will continue to use your bookmarks, knowing that they fit the NAB perfectly but in the RSV that 1 and 2 Maccabees are the last books in the OT.) Blessings!
