Time for another round of “Lacy’s Picks”! In these posts, I recommend Catholic children’s products that I own, love, and recommend to my friends. These are not paid reviews. You can read more about Lacy’s Picks and see my past recommended resources here.
Stations of the Cross CD: If you don’t already have this, your family needs one. So professionally done! I have sung the praises of this CD before, so I’ll spare you all the details. Here’s a picture of our CD. It’s currently in our CD player in my kitchen because I like to play it on Fridays during Lent while we do our housework.
Glory Story CDs: I love these! I know it’s hard to afford all of them at once, so you can just start with a few and accumulate them in Easter baskets, for birthdays, and for whenever your in-laws offer to let you choose what the kids want for Christmas. They are audio Saint stories on CD. Very professionally done with different voices, sound effects, etc, and the kids love them! So easy to listen to when you’re on the go- very entertaining and informative. (Sorry to keep mentioning how “professional” they are, but you know, I’ve just found that’s not always a ‘given’ in the world of Catholic stuff, so it’s worth pointing out.) These are all out in my van, so I didn’t bother to take a picture of them- lol. I’m hoping to collect the ones I’m still missing with the coupon code. 😉
Treasure Box Books: Let me tell you, the covers don’t look like anything special, but these are charming little books! We’ve owned books 11-20 for years, and with this coupon code, I’m going to order books 1-10. So excited! The covers do all look the same, so I wrote on the cover of ours with a sharpie to make them easier to identify. My favorites are the one about the Trinity, and the one about Angels! The illustrations are timeless and charming, and the teachings are solid. The order they are in seems random, so if you want to collect them slowly, click on each book and see what it’s about- order the ones you’re interested in. This will help you avoid books that are “continued” in the next book.
Read Aloud Bible Stories: I love this book! The stories are so charmingly written, and very accurate to the Bible- not watered down at all! We’ve been reading some of them with Lydia’s First Communion prep, and I’m telling you, these stories are very beautifully written. I recommended this book to a friend (who is just as cheap and hard to talk into buying things as me) and her family loves it as well. I only wish they could fit all the stories from the bible in this book! You can see our little piece of notebook paper sticking out of the top because we’re currently reading it.

Altar Gang- Skiff & AJ’s Fantastic Voyage DVD: This is a pro-life movie for kids, and it’s actually pretty cute. I was originally concerned that it would raise a lot of questions about where babies come from, but actually, the conception of the baby is handled very well! Great message, very entertaining, well done, and the kids really love it.
So, did you ever see an online list that’s like “Hey, look! I have every single children’s book about Our Lady of Guadalupe ever written and I’m so excited to provide you with a link list of all of them!”. I just want to say “I can’t afford 20 books! PLEASE JUST TELL ME WHICH IS THE BEST ONE so that I don’t have to own all of them like you do!” lol!) So that’s what I’m trying to do for you guys with the whole “Lacy’s Picks” thing. 🙂
I know collecting Catholic kid stuff can be expensive (and unavailable in most libraries), so just collect it over the years when different occasions arise. Buy Catholic kid stuff for gifts. Think: birthdays, Easter baskets, stocking stuffers/Christmas, Saint feast days, etc. Keep a list or Pinterest board of the things you want so that when someone asks you what you want for the kids for Christmas, you’re not caught off guard. And of course, always shop when you have a coupon code! 😉
Holy Heroes did not pay me any money or give me any free stuff to write this post. This is just one friend recommending great products to another friend. 🙂 Enjoy the coupon code- I know I will!
thanks for the code!! off to pick up new glory stories for the easter baskets!
Thank you for the recommendations and the coupon code!
Hi. Happy Easter!
This page says there’s a coupon code. I don’t see it.
Love all these ideas!!
Hi Kristen –
This post was from eight years ago (March 2014), so I suspect there was a coupon code at that time, but it would have expired quite a long time ago. Thanks for checking though!
