In continuing with my children’s crafts for Christian songs, today’s craft goes with the song “Jesus Loves Me”! This is such a classic religious song for kids!
Good news! I now have a full at-home VBS program for Catholic kids… Summer With The Sacred Heart! This vacation bible school program is chock full of fun crafts and activities for all kids ages preschool through teens. Get your program now!
I wanted a “Jesus Loves Me” craft that really focused on the “me” part of that. I thought a picture frame with the child’s picture was perfect! This frame is made from an old CD case, and was super easy to put together! Even if you don’t have any of these laying around the house, they’re cheap to buy in the electronic section of most stores, and even the really thin cheap ones work great!
Supplies Needed:
- Printable “Jesus Loves Me” CD Sleeve (available below)
- Thin Markers or Colored Pencils (I think colored pencils worked best for this craft)
- Photograph of your kids (alternately, you can have them draw themselves in the box)
- Glue Stick
- Clear Tape
- Ribbon or String
First, print this “Jesus Loves Me” coloring page that will fit into your CD case.
I just doodled this little frame, but I found that the kids really enjoyed coloring it and took their time! Lots of little spaces for tons of color- that’s why I suggested the colored pencils. Make sure they’re nice and sharp!
Once it’s all colored, use a glue stick to attach your picture in the middle square.
Cut the frame out around the outside line, and it will slide right into your CD case. Use a few pieces of clear tape on the back to hold it in place and keep the picture from sliding around.
You can make your CD case into a frame 2 different ways. You can either make a frame that will stand up on a table top, or you can make a frame that can hang on the wall.

To make a frame that stands up, you’ll need to attach a short piece of ribbon from one side to the other. Use tape to attach the ribbon. This will keep the CD case from opening too far when you set it on your table.
You just want the CD case to open enough to stand up.
If you want to make a CD case frame that hangs up, start by tying a piece of ribbon or sting into a circle. We tied ours with a cute little bow. 🙂
Just close the ribbon into the CD case! See from the back:
Now it can hang on a nail, or even on a doorknob.
My kids absolutely loved these! This craft is so easy and cheap, you could do it with an entire Sunday school class or Vacation Bible School group! I love the idea of using my old CD cases for crafts. I should come up with some more ideas for getting rid of them. 😉

This is such a great idea! We have a bunch of CD cases lying around, but I’ve never thought to use them as frames.
Love the idea! We’ll add this as one of our 100 crafts this summer challenge!
Lacey, You are the best! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful and creative ideas! You are are truly a blessing to me and I’m sure countless others who need help with creating crafts to work with our lesson plans. I am a second grade catechism teacher and your activities are such a good fit – they reinforce the lesson clearly and are easy enough to get the craft completed without taking up too much class time. THANK YOU!
I am starting a Wee Church and I need some easy crafts for 3 & 4 year old to go along with the lesson. Thank-you!
I am a catechist for second graders and I love your site! I’m pinning this so I can use it next year, for our back-to-CCE craft!
