Summer time is such a great time to celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary with kids! The month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart, and the month of August to the Immaculate Heart. Of course, the First Fridays of each month are also a great time to do these activities! 🙂
Today, I wanted to share with you these adorable Sacred and Immaculate paper bag puppets me and the kids made.
All the templates for completing your own can be found in my Saint Puppet Ebook– and for a limited time I have it available for just a $3 download! It’s normally $5 so be sure to get yours while it’s on sale!
I don’t know what it is about paper bag puppets, but kids always LOVE them! When they complete their puppet and put it on their hand, their face lights up. You’ll see when your kids finish theirs. 🙂
Good news! This project is actually just a small part of an at-home VBS program for Catholic kids… Summer With The Sacred Heart! This vacation bible school program is chock full of fun crafts and activities for all kids ages preschool through teens. Get your program now!
Supplies Needed For Sacred And Immaculate Heart Craft:
- How To Make Saint Puppet Ebook
- Colored Paper
- Glue Stick
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Paper (lunch sized) Sacs
- Googily eyes (optional)
- Markers
- How To Draw Sacred And Immaculate Hearts Video
Start by using your templates from you How To Make A Saint Puppet Ebook and deciding which pieces and colors you want to use.
Trace the templates onto your paper with a pencil onto your desired paper color, and cut them out with scissors.
Assemble the puppet pieces as desired onto your paper lunch sac with a glue stick. Be sure to follow the directions outlined in the book so you don’t accidentally glue your puppet shut!
Draw their face with markers and for extra fun you can add googily eyes.
Then you need to see my YouTube video which shows you step by step how to draw your own Sacred and Immaculate hearts. Draw the one you need, cut it out, and use the glue stick to attach it to your puppet.
