For the first time, someone besides me has named one of my products. I finally made a crafty set of cute bible tabs. When finishing up these bible tabs, I asked Lydia what I should call them, and she quickly replied “The World’s Cutest Bible Tabs Ever!” So I’d like to present you with… The World’s Cutest Bible Tabs Ever. 😉
I kept seeing all the cute journaling bibles out there looking all adorable and crafty with cute hand-made tabs, so I decided to make some to mark all the books in my bible. It wasn’t the plan to make them downloadable, but I mean, if I’m going to go through all the work anyways, may as well scan them for the rest of you, right? I love how instantly fun they made my bible!
I created printable bible tabs for each of the 73 books of the bible, and each one has a symbol for something in that book. I’ve found that it makes finding the readings I’m looking for very easy to find!
Now that Catholics finally have real journaling bibles available, these are even more amazing!
For any of my protestant brothers and sisters in Christ, I want to say that all of your books of the Bible are here– just don’t use the ones you don’t need for your bible.
I love how they’re all shaped differently. As far as I know, these are the first novelty bible tabs of their kind, and kids love them! (Not to mention moms) 😉
I feel like it’s hard to capture their cuteness in the photos, but I especially love this little lyre as the symbol for the book of Psalms. 🙂
I also love the little symbols for the 4 Gospels!
These homemade bible tabs make my bible so happy. 🙂
How to use the bible tabs:
Print the download. (I printed mine on card stock so they would be sturdy)
Fold the tabs along the line.
Cut along the outside edge of the tab with the paper still folded. They all stay connected along the top so the 2 sides stay together.

Here’s what the Genesis tab looks like cut out. This is when I put it on my Bible page, and figure out exactly where I want it to go, then mark with a little pencil dot. Just like any dividers, each tab should be placed a little lower than the tab in front of it. When you get to the bottom of your Bible, start at the top of the page again.
To attach these to my Bible, I used regular school glue. I squirted a few dots on the inside of the tab and spread it with my finger. This assures that you get glue to all the edges of the tab, and you don’t leave any globs that will dry wrinkly.
Then you stick it to your Bible page on the place where you marked with your pencil. That’s it! Be sure not to glue your pages together. I kept checking by flipping my pages back and forth each time I put a new tab in to make sure nothing was sticking that I didn’t want to stick.
If you think the tabs are too big for your Bible, you can print them smaller by choosing a smaller percentage (such as printing them at 80%. I already had one friend tell me she was going to do this. They were just the right size for my bible.)

Check out how Monica made these her own by shrinking them to fit her bible and laminating them before putting them in her bible.
You can find all of my bible journaling resources here.
You can find even more bible resources for kids here including free printables, scripture memory resources, the best children’s bibles, and more!
These are so cute!! Would you recommend laminating them before sticking them in? How are your holding up? I can’t wait to add these to our Bible!
I didn’t laminate mine and they’re holding up just fine. If I were going to laminate them, I would use regular paper, not card stock. In fact, I think real lamination would be too thick as well. If I wanted them laminated, I’d use packing tape rather than real lamination paper. I suppose they could also be printed on photo paper to give them a more shiny/sturdy look.
Any idea how they would print on clear sticker sheets?
I am trying to find a Catholic wide margin bible to start my art journaling. Where did you find your bible?
I have the link to mine in this post: http://www.catholicicing.com/catholic-bible-for-bible-journaling/
I am just reading this Pinterest site in 2018, and I saw that you are looking for a Catholic journaling Bible. I found one! It just came out in January 2018. It’s a complete Bible, meaning it’s got the Old and New Testaments all together in one book. I found another Catholic journaling version that is just the Old Testament in one book and then a separate book with the New Testament. As far as I know, this Bible is the only one that has both the Old and the New in one book. It’s called The Catholic Journaling Bible and you can order it at The Catholic Company.
What Bible is that in the pictures? I am just starting out with this and want to make sure I have the correct bible. And I love the tabs!!
Thanks
You can find the link to my bible here: http://www.catholicicing.com/catholic-bible-for-bible-journaling/
They are the cutest Bible tabs ever! Great idea! Love them!
Thank you for these! I love your work! You inspire me!
Adorbs!! Can I ask which Bible that is?
Sure- I have a post about finding a journaling bible here, and the link to the one I use is in the post: http://www.catholicicing.com/catholic-bible-for-bible-journaling/
I saw these on your journaling pages, but couldn’t find them in your archives, so I figured I’d have to make my own. You came through again before that happened. Thanks, amiga!
Would you consider making a black-white version available so older children can color their own?
I’ve had several requests for this. I’ll see what I can do. 🙂
I purchased a set yesterday thinking, for some reason, that there was a black and white option, so if you do this, I’d love to know, too. For now, I’m going to get my kids to deepen the colors using colored pencils. 🙂
I would be interested too!
I would also have preferred them in black and white. I will try the deepening the color with colored pencil idea. For a Inter-generational Faith Formation class this weekend.
I seriously do not know why it did not occur to me to scan these in black and white first! It is something I am considering doing, but I would not hold your breath lol. Thank you so much for the feedback. God bless!
Thank you these are just adorable!! Great price for such an awesome product!
These are awesome Lacy.
I’m still holding out for a REAL Catholic Bible that is more affordable.
BUT – I love these and will use them in a few of our Bibles.
Hugs,
Em
I wish the were free though. Oh, well.
With all due respect, $3 is cheap! Just before seeing this, I bought some from Amazon–not nearly so cute, and for more. It is nice to receive free things, but her time wasn’t free. If you cannot afford the $3, just make your own. Yours will be personal to you–which can be just as sweet. You could use index cards. 🙂
Thanks, Heidi. I really work hard to keep my downloads really affordable (I’d say generally about half of what other bloggers charge) so I’m happy to hear it’s appreciated. And a lot of time does go into inventing, creating, formatting, publishing, etc, and even up-keeping a website is not free. <3
Thank you for making these available to everyone Lacy, they are adorable! And you should be paid for your time. Time isn’t free and if someone doesn’t want to pay for them, I think you have also freely shared the idea and someone can make their own and someone else shared, personalize them. But these are adorable! Much cuter and heart felt then those that I have purchased in the past.
The labourer is worthy of his hire 🙂
People give stuff away for free sometimes, but we shouldn’t expect them to or complain if they don’t.
I would be more than willing to forgo a cup of coffee to support Lacey. I have been using her ideas for my Children’s Bulletin (thank you thank you thank you – you have saved my bacon more than once!)
okay this is going to be a totally fun project with the kids…awesomeness. Thank you!
About 30 years ago, as a neophyte, I put lovely tabs on my beautiful St. Joseph version of the bible. My bible has been well worn with underlining and notes, etc. and the tabs have made it very convenient to use. There are two results that I would like to share: The tabs have ripped the pages with me having to either tape them back on-very messy- or they have so shredded the page around them that I just had to gently tear the page-and so losing some of the text. In addition, I have noticed that I am dependent on the tabs to find the books in the bible. I would suggest that these very adorable tabs be used on a children’s bible to help children find and learn the placement of the books of the bible. Then when they are grown enough to appreciate a beautiful adult bible that tabs be left off. In the long run, I wish I had not put them on mine-but now I find it difficult to leave my beloved, well-prayed Bible.
PS I love your website
What a wonderful idea! I, too, like the idea of having them available to color also. Thanks for all of your posts. I’m not Catholic, but find many that I’m able to use.
My name is Mona ,and my mom got these tabs for my bible. Thank you so much!I love how they look!I really like them! These tabs make me want to read my bible more!Would you be able to make some tabs that I don’t have in my bible? The tabs that I would like are , Susanna, the first and second book of Esdras, Three young Men,and possibly an Old and a New Testament tab? Also in my bible, I have the book of Jerimiah, as well as a letter of Jerimiah. I Also have a Greek Esther and a regular/Hebrew Esther. My mom said that she can pay for these tabs. Thank you so much!!!Ilove all the things on your website!!
Thanks for linking to how I used your Bible tabs. I really love the way they look…and I’m so happy that I was able to laminate them. This isn’t the first time I’ve made a smaller version of your awesome printables, hello peg saints. =) Great job on the Bible Tabs and $3 is a great price.
This is fabulous! I do have a request, not sure if you would be interested. Would it be possible to also have them without color so my children can color it themselves (since they love to color)?
Lacy,
I love the tabs & appreciate all you’ve shared about bible journaling!! Thank you.
Thank You!
It would be quite helpful to have a list of what each of the cute tabs represent. Many are quite obvious, but some are not for me. I just finished putting these tabs in. It did take a couple of days, but they look wonderful! I love your creativity!
I just bought these for my pre-teen Sunday School group. We’re going to make a scrapbook with a summary of each book of the bible, so these are a perfect way to “prettify” their scrapbooks. Thank you!
I never buy stuff like this and I just ordered them and can’t wait to print them out! Where did you get your rosary, it’s beautiful! I have more rosaries than I need, but am a sucker for cute new ones 🙂
This rosary was handmade by either Lacy or by a woman who has passed away who used to make clay bead rosaries.
Hello – Love these tabs! I purchased them! Is there a black and white version of them? Would love to be bale to color them myself – Since I do not have a color printer….THANKS!!!
The download is just for the color version, since there isn’t a black and white version.
Hi!
I just downloaded your adorable Bible tabs!
They are awesome!
Do you share how to make your bible cover?
That would be great!
Thanks!
These really are the cutest bible tabs ever!!!!!!!!!! I am sharing a link to this post in my bible study groups. Be prepared for incoming orders! 😉
So cute!! Has a black and white “colorable” version been made yet??
No, the only version available is still the already colored in version.
In the second photo of this blog, there is the cutest Rosary laying on top of The Bible. Did you buy it somewhere, or make it? I would love to get one for my daughter; She will have her first communion come Easter.
Shay –
That’s either one that Lacy made herself or it was made by a woman who used to make and sell clay bead rosaries but passed away some time ago.
Where did you get the adorable rosary in the second photograph? I’d love to purchase one for my daughter. Thank you!
Hi, how long does it usually take to receive an email with the download after purchasing it?
Veronica –
The email usually arrives pretty quickly. Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as well.
If you can’t find it, reach out to me directly through the contact form here on the site: http://www.catholicicing.com/contact-me/
I would really really really like a black and white option so I can color them myself!! Can you put one up for purchase?
There is not a black and white option for purchase. Sorry!

The first time i used these, I made a big, gluey mess of my bible (my own fault, I was sloppy). I recently got the new Catholic Journaling bible, so I decided to try again. I printed these on full sheet labels and they were so easy to apply that way! They have been on for about a week and are still adhering perfectly so far!
I just printed these out on glossy photo paper and they are BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for all your hard work.
Hi. I love these adorable tabs and they’re working great on my interleaved Bible. Just wondering if you could tell me the meaning of the symbol for 2 Corinthians? Thanks.
Of COURSE you made adorable tabs for my new journaling bible! Thank you! I consider them one of my Easter presents to myself! So far I’ve only journaled on one page… my favorite scripture: Matthew 16:18! Bless you Lacy, and much grace during this holiest of Holy Weeks.
I have these and I absolutely love them. Im putting them on the top of my pages because my sides are already tabbed.
Those are awesome. Great for my sweet grandkids and a terrific price for them. Thank you
I ordered but did not receive my tabs.
I found my tabs. I should have read the previous comments. They were in my Junk folder. Thanks!
Thank you Lacy for the wonderful and YES!! Cutest Bible Tabs! I’m waiting for my paypal to renew, so that I may purchase the tabs. May I ask What program you used to make/print these tabs? If they are hand drawn you are a very talented artist. Life is busy and for you to take time out of your busy schedule to bless us with your creativity is Awesome!
I am a “Newbie” to Bible Journaling and looking forward to using your tabs.
They are hand drawn. And thank you. 🙂
Good Morning Lacy,
I just purchased the tabs yesterday! This may be a silly question however, I noticed that page 5 only has 7 tabs and the rest of your lines are blank. Is this space to make additional tabs, or markers? Just wondering. Again Thank You and many Blessings!
Lacy, I purchased these several months ago, but have never printed them. Would you let me know what I need to do to print. Thank you so much.
Hi Debra –

You can click on the “Buy Now” button in the post to purchase the Bible tabs.
also looking for black and white bible tabs
Hello, I really like these tabs and I would like to use them, but I am from Poland and I would prefer Polish names of the books (or actually their abbreviations, like “Rdz” for Genesis, “1 Krn” for 1 Chronicles etc). My question is, is it possible to get these tabs without names on them?
I have had a lot of requests for them in black and white, but blank didn’t occur to me… it’s actually a really good idea. I will totally consider it for when (and if) I have the time. Thank you for the suggestion! 🙂
These look lovely and I want to get them for my kids. My only concern is that the tabs will cover some of the text on each page? Have you found that they work better with certain Bibles? We don’t have journaling bibles, just the bibles from Saint Mary’s Press (The Catholic Children’s Bible, Breakthrough Bible, and the Catholic Teen Bible). Would these tabs work for those?
I LOVE these tabs and can’t wait to use them in my classroom. Do you have a cheat sheet that explains what each symbol is from each book of the Bible? Thank you for an awesome product!
Hello, these are the best Bible tabs — the symbols teach as well as help kids locate the needed book. If I purchase a set, can I print for my group or does every individual have to purchase their own? I am teaching a virtual CCD class and want to print for them.
If you check out the “Purchasing Options” in the description in the shop, hopefully that should be a guide:

Hi Lacy,
I recently found your website/blog/pinterest page and have been using your font of information for my Catholic preschool class. Your activities, projects and insights have added a whole new level and depth to my teaching the faith and relationship with Jesus to my students. I wish I had known you 20+ years ago when I was raising my children-although you were probably just a kid yourself then…anyway I am so in love with your Bible tabs and the idea of Bible journaling. My husband got me a beautiful Bible for Christmas 2 years ago as I really began getting into the Walking with Purpose Bible Studies. If you don’t know about them you should check them out. You would love them. Anyway, while in between studies I am longing to read and understand the Bible better. I like to jot down notes, experiences, and connections to things I am praying about and the verses God leads me to but like most Bibles the Bible my husband gave me doesn’t allow for that. I do use a journal, which I am fine with because then I can use the Bible for many years without running out of room. My question to you is how do you pray with your Bible and understand the scripture God leads you to during prayer? I can often cannot understand what He is trying to tell me when I pray using the Bible. Do you have a devotional you use in conjunction with your Bible? Do the journaling Bibles come with reflections? Are there apps you use? As a kid I was never really taught to use the Bible in prayer very well so now as an adult I am just coming to appreciate it and develop a desire to use it more and more.
